Do you have a drawer full of old jewelry somewhere in your house that you're not quite sure what is what? Maybe you have some inherited jewelry and you don't know which is costume, which is real, or if any of it is valuable. Most people are not able to tell the difference between white beads and pearls, CZ's and diamonds, and platinum from white gold or silver. I help by expertly evaluating your entire collection, separating fine jewelry from costume, and can determine their values. .
Some items may need further testing, such as larger colored stones, if so I can facilitate sending these items to gem labs for proper identification and certification.
Are you responsible for an estate that includes jewelry? If so, I offer professional services to manage every aspect of the project. Whether it's identification of pieces that have been left to heirs, the value of certain items for tax purposes, or liquidation, I have the experience and qualifications to help you through the entire process.
I am the only company in Newburyport and surrounding area that offers completely turn-key service, tailored specifically to your needs. While reputable jewelers, appraisers, used jewelry buyers, and estate dealers each specialize in their niche of the jewelry industry, none offers the entire range of estate or trust services that I will provide you.
I will work with you at a place of your choosing, a private residence, office, or bank vault. I am also available to meet with you at my store in Newburyport, The Brass Lyon, by appointment.
I have been writing jewelry appraisals for over 30 years in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and am able to identify, assess, and evaluate items and their worth. Please contact me if you need items appraised for insurance purposes or to simply find out the current value of your pieces.
If you have existing appraisals on your jewelry that are outdated, I will inspect your items along with their appraisals, and update the values to the current market value.
What do you do with jewelry that you don't wear for whatever reason? Broken chains, single earrings, old mountings and most other jewelry in almost any condition has value.
So, what do you do with it? It can be difficult trying to figure out the best way to liquidate or sell your jewelry. What's a fair price? Maybe you don't even know whether a piece is real, but you know you no longer want it...this is where I can help.
I will work with you to sell your jewelry through my network of reputable jewelers, on-line dealers, private buyers, estate dealers, and refineries. I will meet with you at a place of your choosing to inspect your pieces and discuss their salability with realistic expectations.
Do you own a piece of jewelry that you appreciate but just don't wear? You can't sell it without feeling guilty, so it sits in a drawer.
Perhaps you have a family heirloom such as an ornate brooch that is out of fashion. The gemstones in the piece may have value, but no buyer is offering on more than scrap metal for it, this is an item I would recommend restyling. The gemstones can take on a whole new life remounted in a ring or pendant that could be worn every day.
As your personal jewelry consultant I will explore these options with you. We will start by sketching out ideas together, coming up with unique remount ideas with the various possibilities. Once we settle on a design, my master jeweler will then draw the piece to scale in CAD for you to view. Upon your approval of the image, I'll then work directly with my custom jeweler to to finalize the technical parts of the design and get a quote for the work . Finally, I will ensure that it is crafted meticulously for a new lifetime of wear, and you will have a piece to add to your collection that you will love and enjoy.
Like other valuable things we own, such as our homes and cars, fine jewelry requires periodic maintenance. Jewelry that receives a lot of wear should be cleaned and inspected every 6 months. Sometimes broken jewelry ends up in a pile, perhaps an earring that is missing a back, a ring with a loose stone, or a watch with a dead battery...and that's where it may sit, unworn, for years. It may be something that you just don't know where to go to get it fixed, unsure of who to trust to take care of it. I can take all of your broken/damaged pieces and quickly get them back to you good as new.
First, we will sit down together and I will inspect all of your pieces. We will discuss the issues with each, and determine what items need repair, and which need a bit of attention to be safely worn.
Estimates and various options will be given prior to any work being started, and will be approved in advance by you.
I work with a number of reputable and talented master jewelers, and have the expertise to know who to use based on the needs for each of your projects.
